Bakery Puff Pastry
Let the fresh yeast sit in half a glass of warm water for 5 minutes and transfer to a mixing bowl. Then, add the flour, salt, sugar, and mahleb to the mixing bowl and start kneading. Knead for 6-7 minutes, adding water, oil, and egg. Our dough should be slightly firmer than the consistency of an earlobe, so that it can be easily shaped. Let our kneaded dough rest for at least one hour at room temperature, covered, until it rises. Flour a clean, flat surface and take a piece of our dough, knead it slightly with our hands, and divide it into equal pieces. Roll the pieces into shape. Lightly press the center of the shaped dough. Place our prepared pastries on a greased baking sheet, leaving spaces between them. Whisk 1 egg yolk with sugar and brush it over our pastries. Make scratches on the brushed eggs with the help of a fork. Bake in a preheated 180-degree oven until well browned. (Approximately 25-30 minutes) Serving Suggestion: You can garnish the tops of our pastries with nigella seeds before baking. Ingredients:
