What are the types of tents?

Tents are made of fabrics that can be set up and dismantled in desired locations in outdoor environments and are easily portable. These are generally portable shelters made of felt, cloth, leather, and sacking. Today, services are also provided in rental areas. On the other hand, they are most effectively used by nomadic tribes and mobile teams who change locations frequently due to their work, as well as being used as resting places during summers and vacations. Additionally, tents are the first shelters for soldiers during wars and exercises, and for those left homeless after natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and fires. Tents have been shelters where people have lived from ancient times to the present day. Furthermore, in ancient times, tents were used as veritable residences by some tribes and peoples. Tents are examined and classified into approximately eight types based on their structures. The first are simple conical tents, which are widely used in North Asia and North America. Domed conical tents are most frequently used by the Japanese.

Tents of the Old Turks

Conical tents with joints, and tents with many corners are found among the Tibetan tribes, while tents with double conical shapes are generally used by the Siberian people. These tent models are still widely used today compared to ancient times. In fact, people who are curious and want to spend time in nature during vacations can stay in tents through tent rental systems. The Old Turks gave separate and different names to the tents they widely used. The large tents, reserved for rulers and other state dignitaries, which were wide and quite tall with skirts, sometimes with four, sometimes seven poles, and often made of three layers of fabric, were called 'odak'. Tents used by soldiers were called 'orda'. Today, these tent traditions continue, meeting their enthusiasts in different areas and places. At the same time, tent rental systems are also widely used today during vacations and at desired times in the summer months. On the other hand, large tents made of white fabric were called 'ağban ev', and tents made of colored fabric were called 'alaban ev'.
