Excess Weight Can Cause Reflux
One of the diseases that develop as a result of a sedentary and stressful lifestyle, as well as inadequate and incorrect nutrition today, is reflux, which manifests with heartburn complaints. Reflux disease, if left untreated, can progress to esophageal cancer and is a disease that should not be neglected. Among the triggers of reflux disease, smoking comes first. Chocolate and coffee also cause reflux. Among foods, garlic, broth, pastries, fried foods, pickles, and onions are among the foods that cause reflux.
Unhealthy Eating and Smoking Also Cause Reflux
Apart from these, experts state that excess weight resulting from unhealthy eating also causes reflux. As for reflux symptoms, they can be listed as burning and churning sensations in the stomach, sourness, and regurgitation (food coming up into the mouth). Endoscopy or biopsy methods are used to diagnose reflux. To measure the stage and severity of reflux, a method called Manometry is applied. Another method used is pH meter monitoring. This means imaging the acid reflux into the esophagus for 24 hours. It is a highly effective method in terms of providing data on how long stomach acids remain there and the person's degree of reflux.
