Söğüt – Knidos – Bozburun Places to Visit Guide
Söğüt - Marmaris
Marmaris, despite its magnificent location, was a somewhat neglected corner of the country by people, but in recent years it is being rediscovered, and I am not sure whether to be sad or happy about this. The number of good places is small, but the prices are still acceptable. Unlike Bodrum, it has a wide spread with Datça further on and Fethiye to the south… It is possible to stay in Marmaris and visit Göcek, Akyaka, and Dalyan, which are at most an hour away… To do justice to Marmaris, which is 1 - 1.5 hours away from Dalaman Airport, a car is essential. We stayed in Marmaris city center and toured Marmaris and its surroundings with a rental car. Although the holiday crowd affected Marmaris relatively little, the coves of Sarsala, Kargıcak, and Aşı, operated by the Ministry of Forestry as picnic areas, were crowded. In the past, these magnificent coves, which were only on the Blue Cruise routes, have been accessible by road in recent years. Although the roads are a bit rough, it's good that access by land is provided. Our biggest discovery on this Marmaris holiday was the day trip by boat from Selimiye and Söğüt. On these tours with small boats of at most 10 people, there is turquoise sea and delicious lunch prepared by the captains' wives for 100 TL per person.
Knidos-Datça
The two prominent villages in the Marmaris area are Selimiye and Bozburun… Although Selimiye, in terms of its location, resembles the early days of Türkbükü, it is more similar to Alaçatı with its small designer stores, boutique hotels, and guest profile. For example, we couldn't help but feel a shiver when we saw women with Louis Vuitton suitcases on the streets… Bozburun is also the new favorite of yacht owners, and it is rapidly on its way to becoming the new Bodrum with its boutique hotels located side by side, such as Sabrina’s Haus, Mia Mai, and Karia Bel; we hope it preserves its tranquility. Dedicate an evening to Bozburun Yacht Club, run by Ethem Dirvana’s mother, Zeynep Hanım, for its delicious mezes and magnificent view, you won't regret it. Moreover, the cheerful and excellent hospitality of the couple Tanem Sivar and Ethem Dirvana, who suit each other very well, is a bonus… The bonus of the Selimiye-Bozburun route is Söğüt… It's still a village, and the octopus at the seaside restaurants are famous. On the boat trip we took from here, we swam in the undeniably most beautiful sea. In the coves we chose, there were almost no people. It hasn't been fully discovered by yachtsmen yet, there were at most one, maybe two yachts in each cove. If you are going towards Dalyan, keep in mind that İztuzu is excessively crowded. In the evening, almost all the restaurants on the Dalyan waterfront offer pretty much the same menu; don't expect much from the food here, it's too touristy and expensive. One afternoon can be dedicated to Akyaka. If you take a mini boat tour on Azmak here, be aware that there is a lot of Instagram and Snapchat material. The restaurants on the Azmak waterfront offer almost the same menu as Dalyan, but they are tastier… Yuvarlakçay will greatly please social media addicts. It was a bit difficult to find, but it will be worth all your efforts, so insist on searching for it. If you are going towards Datça, up to Knidos, on both sides of the Datça Peninsula, besides Palamutbükü, Hayıtbükü, Ovabükü, Kızılbük, whose names we know, there are dozens of nameless, deserted coves where you can jump into the sea, dry off, and continue on your way. We didn't even get to Bördübet, Sedir Island, İncekum, or the breakfast places in Çetibeli. Marmaris offers too many options for every type of holiday. It is rapidly increasing its attractiveness with its magnificent view, crystal clear sea, and newly developing luxury accommodation facilities.
