Foam Fire Extinguishing Systems
Foam Fire Extinguishing System Features
Different fire extinguishing systems are used depending on the type of the source of the fire, i.e., the type of combustible material. The combustible material can be solid, liquid, or gas. Foam fire extinguishing systems are systems used in fires caused by fuels, flammable liquids, and other chemicals. You can find more information about where this system is used on the page.
How Foam Fire Extinguishing Systems Work
A foam extinguishing system consists of a pipe system connected to a foam concentrate and a water source. It is a system used to control Class A and B fires, and it has the necessary foam spray device for this purpose. This system is particularly used in fuel depots, hangars, paint factories, chemical production sites, fuel loading and unloading areas, shipyards, and in facilities for storing and filling flammable and combustible liquids. In fires that may arise in such storage and filling facilities due to flammable and combustible materials and pose a risk of spreading rapidly over a large area, a foam fire extinguishing system is preferred. The system activates in response to a fire alarm. The system, activated by a detector, sprays foam into the fire area when the valve opens. Protein-based, synthetic-based, film-forming, and alcohol-resistant foam types are used in foam extinguishing systems. Foam is stored in a foam tank, and when the system activates, the foam in this tank is sprayed onto the burning surface through the system.
